Ninety-six-year-old retired professor of Guangdong University of Technology Li Xin donated 25,000 yuan ($3612.5) to students in financial difficulty on Wednesday.

Five students at his university and 10 primary and middle school students in Ruyuan Yao autonomous county in Shaoguan city, Guangdong, benefit from his latest donation.

At the ceremony, Li, who taught English at the university, encouraged students to seek all-round development in moral, academic and physical excellence, prioritizing the moral side.

More than 170 students have received his financial help, totaling 260,000 yuan over the past 12 years.
